Resident enjoyment and an improved lifestyle is a major focus of the
Polish Retirement Home. Activities include exercise, walks in the hostel
gardens, shopping, lawn bowls, games, etc. Entertainment comprises Polish
films and videos, singing and dance evenings, discussions on various
topics, and food tastings.
Families and friends are encouraged to visit as often as possible, and to
continually take part in the residents' lives. This includes dining
together (visitor meals are provided at minimal charges), and taking
residents for trips and outings.
We ensure that residents' spiritual needs are met. On-site religious
services are held weekly and on holy days. Residents regularly meet their
respective Chaplains from all denominations.
Five - times a week, “activities” sessions are being conducted. During
these sessions the Residents enjoy light physical exercises, reading of
novels, newspapers – Polish and Australian, discussions, dancing and
singing, playing games like cards & bingo, walking in the gardens, bowling
, English Language lessons , aromatherapy and ‘Happy Hour” etc.
One to one sessions of “Talks” have also been introduced specially having
in mind Residents who suffer from depression and loneliness.
During the year (seasonal) bus excursions are organized to neighbouring
parks, shopping centres & restaurants and to festivals like Dutch Tulip
Festival at Silvan.
Also during the year, and approaching Christmas time, the Residents make
decorations for the Christmas tree.
At Easter time traditional painting of eggs is taking place. Finished
